Tuition Fees
Higher education is run by the language communities, so fees differ by region. Flanders (Dutch-speaking): each institution sets fees for non-EEA students within published guidelines. Wallonia-Brussels Federation (French-speaking): fees are capped by the Federation, and most non-EU students pay an extra contribution unless they are exempt (for example, nationals of least developed countries, or some other countries at universities). Your exact fee is confirmed in your enrolment letter.
- Flanders, EU/EEA students (2026-27, 60 credits)
- €1,181.40 per year
- Flanders, non-EU/EEA students (2026-27, 60 credits)
- About €5,300 – €12,000 per year (arts schools €8,800 – €25,000)
- Wallonia-Brussels, non-EU students (standard)
- €5,369 per year (€1,194 fee + €4,175 extra contribution)
- Wallonia-Brussels, non-EU students exempt from extra contribution
- €835 per year

Work must fit with your studies. After graduating, you can ask for a “search year” permit of up to 12 months to look for work or start a business.
