Bachelor Programme

Economics

Brock's Economics degree studies how limited resources can best meet the needs of people and society, from individual spending choices to the economy as a whole. Students learn how consumers decide to spend their time and money and how producers predict and respond to demand, then move on to banking, unemployment, government debt and taxation, international trade and exchange rates, and the use and conservation of natural resources. A co-op option adds paid work terms, and a minor in Economics is also offered. Brock lists careers such as private-sector or government economist, business manager, corporate lawyer and financial investment planner.

Application Deadline

Fall 2027 (September): apply by 15 January 2027, through OUAC if you are also applying to other Ontario universities, or through Brock's International Full Time application (CAD 130 fee) if you are applying only to Brock. Programs may stay open after the deadline, but Brock says competitive programs can reach capacity, in which case you may be offered an alternate program. Applications from students outside Ontario high schools are only reviewed once the documents listed in the Brock student portal arrive. Current Ontario high school students must accept an offer on OUAC by 1 June 2027. Brock's own application also lists Winter (January) entry, with a 1 December deadline, and Spring (May) entry, with a 1 April deadline, but not every program is available at every entry point. Students who do not yet meet the English requirement can use the IELP conditional application, which has continuous intake

Tuition Information

International: CAD 39,834.95 a year in tuition for students entering in 2026 (the Arts and Sciences flat fee charged for a full-time load of 4.0 or more credits in Fall 2026 and Winter 2027), plus CAD 584.45 in per-credit ancillary fees and the Province of Ontario's CAD 750 International Recovery Fee, so about CAD 41,169.40 before sessional fees. These figures are from Brock's 2026 undergraduate Fall/Winter fee schedule, which Brock marks as subject to change. Brock holds an international student's tuition rate for up to five academic years of a first degree, but rates for students entering in Fall 2027 have not been published yet. International students also pay sessional fees, including UHIP health insurance (CAD 948), the BUSU health (CAD 216.87) and dental (CAD 161.63) plans, the transit pass (CAD 364.94), the health services fee (CAD 34.80) and a one-time CAD 127.63 engagement levy. Students who start co-op in first year also pay a non-refundable CAD 917.89 first instalment and a CAD 300 student support fee (Brock's 2026 fee estimator). US residents pay a lower international rate (CAD 29,876.20 flat fee). Ontario residents pay CAD 6,211.15 (2026 flat fee). Entering international students with an admission average of 80% or higher are automatically considered for the International Brock Scholars Award, worth CAD 7,000-32,000 over four years for 2026-27 entrants

Admission Requirements

  • Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC). International students on a study permit who are applying only to Brock can use Brock's International Full Time application instead. Brock makes an offer to one program only, so list your top choice first
  • Ontario prerequisites: English (ENG4U) and Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) at 65% or higher, within six Grade 12 4U/4M courses with at least a 70% average. Brock's 2027 admission chart lists a competitive secondary school average of B- for the regular and co-op streams, and the program page gives an expected cut-off in the mid 70s
  • Applicants from outside Ontario need the secondary credential that gives university entry in their own country, with prerequisites taken at the Grade 12 university-preparatory level, and generally at least a B- average. Examples from Brock's country requirements: the IB Diploma with the right subjects (Brock converts IB subject grades and does not use the total score); five GCE/GCSE/IGCSE subjects at grade C or above, including two A-levels (or four AS-levels plus one O-level); India's CBSE or CISCE Year 12 certificate with at least 50% overall; the WAEC/NECO certificate with eight subjects for Nigeria or six for Ghana and a C4 average; or a US Grade 12 diploma with five academic subjects, usually with a B average. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission
  • English proficiency (if English is not your first language): IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0 (One Skill Retake accepted); TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 21, or for tests taken from 1 January 2026, 4.5 overall with at least 4.0 in Reading and Speaking and 4.5 in Writing and Listening; Duolingo 110; CAEL 70 with no band below 60; PTE Academic 58; Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 176; Level 5 of Brock's Intensive English Language Program (IELP); or the IB Diploma with English A. Online versions of IELTS, TOEFL, CAEL and PTE are accepted
  • Applicants with qualifications from countries on Brock's exempt list (including the UK, US, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya) do not need a test, and others with at least three years of full-time English-medium (non-ESL) study can request an exemption. If you meet every requirement except English, you can apply to the IELP/undergraduate conditional program and start your degree after finishing IELP Level 5
