Bachelor Programme

Engineering (Honours)

Deakin's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) teaches students to conceive, design, build and test engineering solutions to complex real-world problems. Students choose a major in civil, electrical and renewable energy, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering. Engineering has long been taught at Waurn Ponds in Geelong and is now expanding to Burwood in Melbourne: fourth-year mechanical and mechatronics units arrive at Burwood in 2027, and later-year civil and electrical units from 2027-28. Check which major can be completed at each campus. It is an AQF Level 8 honours degree.

Admission Requirements

  • Deakin course code S467; CRICOS 113508K. Academic minimum for recent school leavers: an unadjusted ATAR of at least 50, or the overseas equivalent. Deakin says this is a minimum: meeting it does not guarantee a place, and your full academic history is considered
  • Year 12 prerequisites (VCE Units 3 and 4): a study score of at least 25 in English EAL or 20 in any other English, and a study score of at least 20 in Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics or General Mathematics (or the equivalent)
  • English: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0, or an equivalent such as recent study in English.
