Bachelor Programme
Chemical Engineering
Manchester describes itself as the birthplace of chemical engineering, and its BEng teaches how to design and manage processes that transform materials at industrial scale, from energy to food and pharmaceuticals. The technical core is about controlling materials and chemical reactions and predicting the compositions, flows, temperatures and pressures of solids, liquids and gases, balanced by process safety and sustainability throughout, and culminates in a third-year team project designing a complete production process. All the department's programmes are accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Entry is through UCAS (course code H800, institution code M20); UK-based applicants are invited to an online UCAS interview day.
