Master Programme

Computer Science

Ontario Tech's two-year, thesis-based MSc in Computer Science pairs applied research with professional skills, in digital media, AI/data, security or software. Offered by the Faculty of Science, it takes a broad approach that draws on engineering, science and business to train high-quality software professionals. Alongside applied research for a thesis, it builds professional skills such as project management, teamwork, leadership and written and oral communication, and students are encouraged to present their results at conferences. Most graduates go on to industrial research or software development. Students research in one of four fields: Digital Media (graphics, animation, visual analytics, games and computer vision), Information Science (databases, machine learning, intelligent systems and health informatics), Networks and IT Security, or Software Design (software engineering, distributed computing and software architecture).

Admission Requirements

  • A four-year honours undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or software engineering from a Canadian university, or the equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Minimum overall academic standing of B (GPA 3.0 on a 4.3 scale, or 73-76%), with at least a B average in the last two full-time years (four semesters) of undergraduate study, or the equivalent
