Bachelor Programme
Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineering at TMU teaches how to design and manage the systems that power modern life, from smartphones to electric vehicles. Students start with engineering fundamentals, then study circuits, electronics, electromagnetic fields, energy conversion and control theory, with attention to clean energy and technology's impact on society. Labs, research, student teams and an optional co-op or internship of up to 16 months add practical experience.

September 2027 entry: February 1, 2027 is TMU's guaranteed consideration date for all programs, for both domestic and international applicants. Complete applications received by then get equal consideration, and later applications are reviewed only while space remains
Tuition Information
TMU lists 2026-27 tuition and fees for the full-time program at about CAD 10,960-11,571 a year for Ontario residents, CAD 13,773-14,572 for students from other Canadian provinces and CAD 44,375-44,675 for international students (TMU publishes a range; exact amounts by year are on its tuition and fees by program page). 2027-28 fees are not yet published.
Admission Requirements
- Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC). International students outside Ontario schools can instead use TMU's own international application (CAD 150 fee) if applying only to TMU; international students at Ontario high schools must use OUAC for September entry
- Ontario: OSSD with six Grade 12 U/M courses and an overall average of at least 70%, including these Grade 12 U courses at 70% or higher in each: English (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Physics (SPH4U) and Chemistry (SCH4U)
- TMU's published grade range for recent admission to this program: 90%+
- Other Canadian provinces: equivalent courses from the student's province, as listed on TMU's out-of-province requirements page; prerequisite grades are normally in the 65-75% range
- IB Diploma: grades of 4 or higher in three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects, including the prerequisites (English, math as Analysis and Approaches HL/SL or Applications and Interpretation HL, physics and chemistry), and a total of at least 28 points
- US high school: graduation from an academic Grade 12 program at an accredited school with at least a B overall average and at least B in the prerequisites (Grade 12 English, senior math with calculus, physics and chemistry), usually at AP or Grade 12 level. SAT/ACT are not required, but scores should be sent if taken
- Co-op is optional. Engineering students can choose a co-op or internship option with up to 16 months of paid work experience, joined later in the degree if eligible; the co-op format takes five years
- Meeting the minimums does not guarantee admission. TMU says the average needed changes each year with the number of applications and spaces, and the program's published grade range reflects averages required in previous years
- English proficiency: no test is needed after four years of full-time high school study in Canada, another English-speaking country on TMU's exempt list or an English-medium school, or with qualifications such as IB English A (HL or SL) at 4 or higher or AP English at 4 or higher. Otherwise TMU's minimum overall scores for this program are CAEL 60, TOEFL iBT 83 (or 4.5 on the scale used for tests from January 21, 2026), IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo 120, PTE 60 or Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency 180; there are no band minimums. For fall 2027 the test score is due by April 1, 2027
