Business and Computer Science
Business and Computer Science (BUCS) at UBC Vancouver is a four-year Bachelor of Commerce combined major, run jointly by the UBC Sauder School of Business and the Department of Computer Science, in which students take core commerce and computer science courses in every year. It is designed for graduates who want to apply IT solutions in business, lead technology projects or move into management roles in tech companies, and co-op is available. Students are first admitted to the Bachelor of Commerce and then apply for BUCS through a competitive application each May to June, which newly admitted students can complete before first year.

Tuition Information
2026/27 first-year tuition: CAD 66,678.30 per year for international students (Sauder rate, CAD 2,222.61 per credit x 30 credits) and CAD 6,200.70 for Canadian students (CAD 206.69 per credit x 30 credits; CAD 9,188.40 in years 2 to 4). Fees for students starting in 2027/28 have not yet been published. Tuition only; student fees, health insurance and housing are extra.
Admission Requirements
- BUCS admission is competitive: newly admitted students are ranked on their Commerce admission average, returning students on their latest Winter Session average, and all applicants write a short essay
- Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce comes first: grades plus a BCom Personal Profile and video interview
- BC high school: English Studies 12 (or English First Peoples 12) and Pre-Calculus 12
- IB: Math AA (SL/HL) or Math AI HL (Math AI SL and Math Studies are not accepted)
- English language proof, if required, is due February 15, 2027 (see English Language Requirements below)
