Bachelor Programme
Canadian Studies
Canadian Studies at UBC Vancouver is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts major that looks at how the humanities and social sciences have shaped understanding of Canada, with courses from departments such as history, political science, geography, anthropology, sociology and film. Students take upper-level courses in three of five areas (culture, geography, history, politics and economics, and society), CDST 350 in third year and the CDST 450 senior seminar in fourth year. This is not a direct-entry program: students are admitted to the Bachelor of Arts and self-declare the major once they reach second-year standing, ideally after talking with the program chair.
