Environmental Sciences
Environmental Sciences at UBC Vancouver is a four-year interdisciplinary BSc that applies the physical, earth and ocean, and life sciences to problems such as pollution, resource use, climate change and species loss. Students concentrate in areas such as land, air and water or ecology and conservation, and everyone completes a two-term final-year project, either a team project with a community partner (major) or individual research (honours); co-op is available. This is not a direct-entry program: students are admitted to the Faculty of Science (BSc) and apply for the Environmental Sciences specialization at the end of first year.

Tuition Information
2026/27 first-year tuition: CAD 53,082.00 per year for international students (Science rate, CAD 1,769.40 per credit x 30 credits) and CAD 6,200.70 for Canadian students (CAD 206.69 per credit x 30 credits). Fees for students starting in 2027/28 have not yet been published. Tuition only; student fees, health insurance and housing are extra.
Admission Requirements
- No specific first-year courses are required to apply for the specialization after first year
- BC high school: English Studies 12 (or English First Peoples 12), Pre-Calculus 12 and one of Anatomy & Physiology 12, Chemistry 12 or Physics 12, plus Chemistry 11 and Physics 11
- IB: Math AA (SL/HL) or Math AI HL, plus one of IB Biology, Chemistry or Physics
- English language proof, if required, is due February 15, 2027 (see English Language Requirements below)
