Bachelor Programme

Food and Nutritional Sciences

Food and Nutritional Sciences at UBC Vancouver is a competitive double major within the Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health that combines the core requirements of the Food Science and Nutritional Sciences majors in about five years. Students study the chemistry and microbiology of food, its nutritional and sensory properties and the role of nutrients in health and disease, using teaching labs, a sensory space and a pilot plant; the program is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists and co-op is available. This is not a direct-entry program: students are admitted to the BSc in Food, Nutrition, and Health and apply for the double major after first year (or after second year).
