Bachelor Programme

Music: Scholarship

Music: Scholarship at UBC Vancouver is a Bachelor of Music major that combines upper-level work in music theory, music history and ethnomusicology with the performance standards of the BMus, as preparation for graduate study in music scholarship. Students keep four years of private lessons and ensembles while adding courses such as MUSC 328, ethnomusicology and music history seminars, with an optional research project. This is not a direct-entry major: students are admitted to the Bachelor of Music by audition, complete two years in another BMus major, and then apply in writing to start Music Scholarship in third year.
