Bachelor Programme
Pharmacology
Pharmacology at UBC Vancouver is a four-year BSc on how drugs act on living systems, with a strong lab focus: students learn whole-animal, isolated-tissue, biochemical and chemical techniques along with experimental design, data analysis and scientific writing. Taught by the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, it is offered as a major or honours, either of which can include 12 to 16 months of co-op, and it differs from UBC's Pharmaceutical Sciences and PharmD programs by focusing on drug mechanisms and pre-clinical research. This is not a direct-entry program: students are admitted to the Faculty of Science (BSc) and apply for the Pharmacology specialization at the end of first year.
