Physics and Computer Science
The Combined Major in Computer Science and Physics at UBC Vancouver is a four-year BSc that combines core computer science, such as software construction, algorithms and computer systems, with the core courses of a physics degree. A Combined Honours version is also offered, and co-op is available through Computer Science. This is not a direct-entry program: students are admitted to the Faculty of Science (BSc) and apply for the combined major at the end of first year, through the same competitive process as the Computer Science major.

Tuition Information
2026/27 first-year tuition: CAD 53,082.00 per year for international students (Science rate, CAD 1,769.40 per credit x 30 credits) and CAD 6,200.70 for Canadian students (CAD 206.69 per credit x 30 credits). Fees for students starting in 2027/28 have not yet been published. Tuition only; student fees, health insurance and housing are extra.
Admission Requirements
- Specialization eligibility after first year: CPSC 110 (or 107), differential and integral calculus (MATH 101 or 121) and first-year physics with a lab (PHYS 108 or 118 plus PHYS 119, or PHYS 158 and 159), or SCIE 001; admission is competitive
- BC high school: English Studies 12 (or English First Peoples 12), Pre-Calculus 12 and one of Anatomy & Physiology 12, Chemistry 12 or Physics 12, plus Chemistry 11 and Physics 11
- IB: Math AA (SL/HL) or Math AI HL, plus one of IB Biology, Chemistry or Physics
- English language proof, if required, is due February 15, 2027 (see English Language Requirements below)
