Application Deadline
Fall 2027 (September) direct entry: apply by March 1, 2027. This is UM's annual direct-entry deadline for Fall, and applications open in early September. Direct-entry applicants who apply and pay the fee by December 1, 2026 are automatically entered in a draw for ten CAD 5,000 tuition prizes, five of them for international students
Tuition Information
International: CAD 895.68 per credit hour for Asper School of Business courses in 2026-27 (courses taught by other faculties are charged at that faculty's rate). UM's estimate for a full Fall-Winter course load is about CAD 26,700, including program and lab fees, the U-Pass, gym pass and UMSU health and dental plan, plus the mandatory Manitoba International Student Health Plan for international students. Canadian citizens and permanent residents: CAD 213.09 per credit hour; UM's estimate is about CAD 8,100. Books and supplies are extra, and 2027-28 rates are not yet published.
Admission Requirements
- Apply online through UM's application portal. The application fee is CAD 130 for international applicants and CAD 100 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. If a direct-entry application is unsuccessful, it is automatically considered for University 1 (UM's general first year) at no extra cost
- Manitoba curriculum: a minimum 85% average over English 40S, Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S and two more academic 40S courses, with at least 70% in each
- International curricula: an equivalent 80% average over senior-level English, Pre-Calculus Mathematics and two more academic courses, with at least 70% in each
- International Baccalaureate: an IB Diploma with an average of 5 (80%) over English, Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches HL or SL, or Applications and Interpretation HL) and two more academic courses, at least two of them HL and none below 4
- You are admitted to the Asper Bachelor of Commerce (Honours). Students usually declare a major at the start of third year and need a degree GPA of at least 2.00. Admission is competitive. Asper is the only UM undergraduate program with a formal admission-deferral process
- Asper's co-op program is optional and adds paid work terms before graduation (2026-27 fee: CAD 937.31 per work term). Asper's exchange program has 60+ partner business schools
- These are minimums. When there are more eligible applicants than spaces, a higher average is needed, and UM notes that enrolment limits lead many faculties to restrict how many international students they admit
- International students who need a study permit must accept the offer and pay a CAD 2,000 non-refundable tuition deposit before UM requests the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). The deposit is refunded only if IRCC refuses the study permit
- English language proficiency is required unless you qualify for a waiver. Examples of waivers are study in an exempt country (such as the UK, US, Australia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana or Singapore), a full IB Diploma with 24+ points taught in English, CBSE or CISCE senior English at 75%+, or GCE/IGCSE English (non-ESL) at grade B or higher. Test minimums: IELTS Academic 6.5 with 6.0 in each band; TOEFL iBT 86 with 20 in each section (tests before January 20, 2026) or 4.5 overall with 4.0 in each section (tests from January 21, 2026); Duolingo 120 with 105 in each subscore; PTE Academic 58; CAEL 60; Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 180. Results expire two years after the test date and must be valid when classes start
