Bachelor Programme

Commerce / Law

UNSW's five-year Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Laws combines the Business School's Integrated First Year and a commerce major, such as Finance, Business Analytics, Accounting, Marketing or FinTech, with a full law degree from UNSW Law & Justice. Students gain practical experience through the on-campus Kingsford Legal Centre, internships, mooting and overseas law electives, and must complete at least one work-integrated learning course. For 2027, entry is based on selection rank alone rather than the previous LAT-based process. UNSW moves from its three-term calendar to a flex-semester calendar in 2028, so degrees started in 2026 or 2027 will span both calendars and their length may vary. Domestic students apply through UAC (code 426000); international students apply directly to UNSW (program code 4733).

Applicants from ISA-eligible countries receive offers weekly. Students completing an Australian Year 12 or the NZ NCEA Level 3 apply through UAC instead (UAC's final closing date for Term 1 2027 courses is 5 February 2027). Domestic applicants apply through UAC (apply by 26 November 2026 for the main 23 December offer round).

Tuition Information

UNSW has not yet published 2027 fees for this degree; the 2026 indicative first-year fees on the degree page are A$56,500 for international students and A$17,500 for a domestic Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) student contribution. UNSW charges by the courses taken (per unit of credit), and fees are reviewed and usually rise each year.

Admission Requirements

  • International applicants (2027 entry guide): international ATAR 92, GCE A level aggregate 15 (all A level subjects scored A*=6 down to E=1; at least two A2 subjects required) or IB Diploma 36; UNSW notes the ATAR and A level figures use different rubrics and are a guide only
  • Domestic applicants: 2026 lowest selection rank 97.8 plus the Law Admission Test (A level 18 and IB 42, also with the LAT); UNSW says 2027 is the first year that entry is based on selection rank alone, so these figures are indicative only
  • International Admissions Diversity Pathway: applicants from UNSW's International Student Award (ISA) eligible countries who apply directly receive an automatic 5 points on their international ATAR (minimum international ATAR of 75 required)
  • Assumed knowledge (not a formal prerequisite): HSC Mathematics Advanced
  • Term 3 entry is available to international students only
  • English language (where required): IELTS Academic 7.0 overall (minimum 6.0 in listening, 6.0 in reading, 6.0 in writing and 6.0 in speaking); TOEFL iBT 94 overall (minimum 23 in reading, 23 in listening, 23 in speaking and 25 in writing); or PTE Academic 65 overall (minimum 54 in listening, 54 in reading, 54 in speaking and 54 in writing)
  • Other overseas qualifications (SAT/ACT, AP, Gaokao, HKDSE, national school-leaving certificates and more) have their own minimums in UNSW's 2027 international undergraduate entry table
